Where GiftCardMall goes, GiftCards.com follows.
GiftCardMall recently reduced the amount you could earn through shopping portals from $60,000 of spend per month to $2,000 of spend per month. GiftCards.com (which is also owned by Blackhawk Network) initially maintained that $60,000 limit, but a couple of weeks later also got reduced to $2,000 of spend per month.
GiftCardMall then made things even worse by reducing the maximum load on Visa gift cards from $500 to $250.
You might see where this is going.
Yep, GiftCards.com has now followed suit, so the maximum load on Visa gift cards is now $250. You could still buy $500 Visa gift cards yesterday, so this change seemed to go in place overnight.
That makes MSing through GiftCards.com even less enticing because with a $4.95 activation fee, you’re looking at 1.99% in fees even before you take into account the shipping costs. That’s partially offset by ~1% cashback through a shopping portal, but seeing as that’s limited to $2,000 of spend per month nowadays, it’s not something worth doing at scale for the most part.
As mentioned in the past, ordering $1,000 Visa gift cards from Simon Mall online with a $3.95 activation fee is looking more and more interesting.
RIP. Simon online’s not got gonna move the needle with Amex…
Fake news lol. Just kidding. It is a blow to myself. Great coverage as always.
Thanks!
