It’s almost like they don’t want people ordering from them.
First it was adding shipping fees for standard shipping, then it was reducing the cashback earnings through portals from $60,000 of spend per month to only $2,000 of spend per month.
GiftCardMall has now made ordering Visa gift cards through their site pretty much worthless because they’ve reduced the maximum you can load to a card from $500 to $250. The cards still come with a $5.95 fee which, when added to the $1.99 shipping fee per card, means you’re paying 3.18% in activation fees.
That’s mitigated in part by 1% cashback, but that’s not going to be worth it in most cases unless you’re working on a non-Amex signup bonus. Besides, with the restriction of $2,000 per month in cashback earnings through portals, even that has its limits.
GiftCards.com is still carrying $500 Visa gift cards, albeit with a $6.95 activation fee. Seeing as they reduced their portal limits from $60,000 of spend per month to $2,000 per month a few days after GiftCardMall did, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a similar reduction to $250 cards by GiftCards.com in the coming week.
