Blackhawk Network is caning it right now when it comes to partnering with other companies to power their ability to sell third party gift cards online.
They’ve recently set up white-labeled third party gift card portals for Meijer and Harris Teeter (on top of their existing partnerships with Kroger, Giant Eagle, Office Depot, USPS and Simon Mall) and they’ve now added another grocery store chain – Price Chopper.
This is the Price Chopper with stores in NY & PA rather than the one with stores in MO & KS. You can find their new gift card portal here. As things stand, you earn 1 point per dollar spent on third party gift cards online which is effectively 1% back towards groceries. It’s therefore not an exciting proposition right now, especially because the gift card deals they run on store don’t seem to be supported online right now. However, hopefully they’ll start running deals online much like Meijer did shortly after launching their own portal in conjunction with Blackhawk Network.
Note that because payment is processed by Blackhawk Network, gift card purchases online won’t code as a grocery purchase. With the lack of grocery store bonused spend and no deals, there’s not much of a reason to buy from this Price Chopper portal right now compared to buying gift cards in-store, but I figured it’s worth being aware of in case they do run deals in the future.
