About a year ago, Giftcards.com stopped selling Safeway and Albertsons gift cards. That was disappointing for some people because buying a $10 Safeway gift card was a good way to earn the $2.50 bonus cashback frequently offered by TopCashback when spending $10.
Well, good news on that front. Roman has shared that Safeway gift cards have made a return to the Giftcards.com website. I’m not seeing Albertsons gift cards on there still, but that doesn’t really matter seeing as Safeway and Albertsons gift cards are interchangeable, so you can use Safeway cards at Albertsons and vice versa.
Hopefully this is a permanent rather than temporary change.
I see only e-GC on sale. When I try to select plastic, it doesnt work. My (ACME) supermarkets dont take virtual GCs. I’ve had several frustrating huge waste of time attempts at using them. If anyone has advise how to tell the cashiers/managers how to use E-GCs properly please LMK.
These instructions appear on my Safeway E GiftCard that I redeemed from CapitalOneShopping. I read them to the cashier at my local Shaws, and it worked. Hope this helps:
Total Order, Press EFT FULL, Press CANCEL to activate scanner/scale, scan the E-Gift barcode
The instructions say that the E-gift needs to be printed, but I have had them scan the barcode on my phone and it works.
nvm, only interested in physical card
May be a dumb question, can we use Safeway gift cards to buy any other gift cards ?
Theoretically yes but it will depend on the cashier. The terms on the GC exclude it.
Isn’t it hard-coded against it?
No.
Any idea why Amazon stopped selling them, and could these two be connected somehow? Meaning Safeway stopped selling on Amazon and moved to giftcards.com.
Would be a very dumb decision on their end if it is the case
