Like many people, we took out a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime on my wife’s account last month so that she could take advantage of some Prime Day gift card deals.
That 30 days is coming to an end, so I republished a post yesterday reminding you to cancel your Prime membership if you didn’t want to keep it going. I already have a Prime membership myself, so I went to cancel my wife’s membership today and got the above popup on her account.
Amazon was offering her an additional 30 days of Prime membership for free, so we took them up on the offer and clicked ‘Extend Prime free trial’. She now has it through December 11, 2020.
That’s great news because leading up to the holidays – particularly Thanksgiving/Black Friday – Amazon tends to run a bunch of gift card deals. While the Prime Day gift card deals were only available to those with Prime membership, the deals at other times of the year are available to all customers. However, Prime members get access 30 minutes early which can be important for the better deals as they sometimes sell out very quickly.
So if you took out a free Prime trial last month, be sure to visit the Prime section of your account to see if you receive this same offer. Even if you were planning on keeping it anyway, this’ll get you an extra month free before you start getting billed for it.
Why don’t you just share your prime if you are living in the same household?
We do – it was to double the number of deals we could take advantage of as it was 1 discounted gift card per account for each deal. This way we could get two of each one.
