Tips & Ideas
5% back isn’t a huge discount, but could be useful to lock in the discount on Walmart gift cards which can also be used at Sam’s Club. You could also buy up to $100 of third party gift cards. Note that this is only valid on online purchases – not in-store.
Update: Rusty Nail has pointed out in the comments that a line has been added to the terms and conditions excluding gift card purchases. When that happens with Amex Offers that usually means they know there’s something with the way payments are processed which means that the offer won’t work on gift card purchases. However, with Chase Offers that doesn’t always seem to be the case. They’ve added that wording to CVS and Dunkin’ Donuts Chase Offers in the past for in-store purchases even though that’s not been an issue and Andie reports in the comments that their gift card orders online have always worked for this Walmart Chase Offer. That’s not to say things haven’t just changed though, so be aware that could be a potential issue.

T&C on the Chase website says not valid on gift cards. Do they mean 3rd party gift cards or will a Walmart GC qualify?
Walmart gift cards and 3rd party gift cards have qualified in past for me. The only problem is their dreadful cancellation to prevent fraud.
Thanks, I’d missed that they’d added that to the T&cs – I’ll update the post. As far as I’m aware it works and Andie’s comment suggests that’s still the case, but I’ll add a warning.
I have a 15% Walmart offer upto $15 on my CSR expiring Jan 31
where is the link to the offer? I don’t see it
It’s a Chase Offer and so there’s no direct link. You have to log in to your Chase account and go the Chase Offers for each of your cards to see if you’re targeted.
The Walmart website is such a pain for gift card purchases. Three attempts with three different Chase cards and all three were canceled within 15 minutes of purchase.
If the purchase has to be made through the Chase App, how would you be able to use Cashback portals?
I’m confused – the purchase doesn’t have to be made through the Chase app.
Purchased a Walmart eGiftCard online last week, got the GC within an hour, but nothing from Chase (no email, or credit).
Any update?
