Good news if you have a card that earns more at wholesale clubs (such as the Discover It and ABOC Platinum Rewards cards until the end of June) – variable load Vanilla Visa gift cards are now apparently being sold at Sam’s Club.
They used to sell variable load cards up to $500, but then changed that so that the maximum denomination was $200. Those $200 cards weren’t a great deal due to the high purchase fees percentage-wise, so it’s great that variable load Vanilla Visa gift cards are now available.
It looks like this is only an option for in-store purchases right now. When checking SamsClub.com the highest denomination is still showing as $200 which means the 5% Cash App boost for Sam’s Club can’t be used for variable load cards as that boost is only valid for online purchases from Sam’s Club.
This’ll make it far easier to max out cards that earn 5% in rotating categories when their main category is wholesale clubs. Looks like I’ll be making an end of month visit to Sam’s Club to max out our Discover cards once we’re back in an area with one of their stores nearby.
