Raise sent out an email to many resellers a few days ago advising that they’ll no longer be accepting Apple and iTunes gift cards for resale on their platform.
This is presumably being initiated by Apple, as it would seemingly make no sense for Raise to impose this restriction seeing as iTunes / Apple gift cards are likely good sellers on the site, unless they’ve been having an inordinately high level of fraud from buyers or sellers of these cards.
If you go on to Raise’s website and try to list an Apple gift card, you’ll see the following message:
That wording suggests that some bulk sellers might still be able to list these cards on Raise, but it’ll be closed off for most resellers. With less supply on the market, this could push resale rates higher. However, there are still private markets for Apple / iTunes gift cards, with the bulk sellers still allowed to sell on Raise potentially sourcing from smaller resellers, so it might end up having no effect on resale rates.
I am a bulk seller on Raise. This was a standard language that Raise always had. Bulker seller has to agree to term to opt in to sell iTunes on Raise.
At this time, any seller will not able to list any iTunes/Apple GC on Raise per Apple’s request. Raise sent out another email today that stated Apple wants Raise to take down all iTunes GC listed prior to the notice. Therefore, no one will able to sell iTunes GC on Raise unless Apple changes their mind.
