There has been an increasing number of deals on One4All gift cards in recent weeks and reader Roman has reached out to share that there are two types of One4All gift cards which have an important difference between them.
The version of the One4All card that I’d been aware of in the past was a physical gift card that could be redeemed both in-store or online at more than 100 different retailers and restaurants. The most interesting use case for that card was to use it at Staples. That’s because you could buy Visa, Mastercard and third party gift cards in-store and online with the One4All card, something that could be particularly useful for someone who doesn’t have a Chase Ink Cash or Ink Plus card but who could pick up One4All cards at a discount.
What Roman has pointed out is that there’s a different version of the One4All card which is what Blackhawk Network (the company that issues the card) refers to as a ‘Swap’ card. Rather than using this type of One4All card directly at eligible retailers and dining establishments, you have to redeem the card online for one or more gift cards for the eligible retailers. That can make the redemption of One4All gift cards far more convenient because you don’t have to go in-store or use it for an online order to redeem them.
However, that does also mean that the ‘Swap’ version of the card can’t be used in-store at retailers like Staples and Lowe’s in order to buy other gift cards from their gift card racks. That could therefore reduce the value that you can get from One4All cards, so be aware of this important difference when taking advantage of deals on these cards.
I had to read this 3 times before I got the joke in the title.
