The Giving Assistant shopping portal sent an email to creditors today – which appears to include users who currently have cashback earnings with them – to advise that the company is being liquidated. As a result, they need to file a claim in order to benefit from any distribution of the company’s assets once they’ve been liquidated.
The letter referenced in the email can be found on Giving Assistant’s website here. Just in case that’s taken down for some reason, I’ve uploaded a copy here.
Here’s the full text of the letter.

This is obviously sad news for Giving Assistant and its employees as well as users of the shopping portal who currently have pending or payable earnings from the portal. Given the situation, I’d assume that any cashback currently in your account won’t be paid out, but it could be worth trying to request a payment if that’s even possible. Otherwise you’ll need to file a claim as detailed in the letter above.
What’s particularly disappointing is that even though this letter is hosted on their website, there’s no other indication on the website that Giving Assistant is closing down and being liquidated. That means people are likely still shopping through their portal even though there’s very little chance they’ll end up being paid any cashback even if it tracks.
I’d written only a week ago that Giving Assistant was offering 30% cashback for new users of the Slide app and 6% for existing users. That 6% rate is 2% more than TopCashback’s standard rate of 4% for existing users, so I said the following:
I’ve always had good luck with TopCashback tracking but have also heard good things about cashback being credited when people have had to make a claim, so I’m reluctant to switch over to Giving Assistant in case their tracking and/or customer service isn’t as good. However, for an extra 2% cashback on a lot of spend, that potential extra hassle could be worth it.
It turns out that I was wrong – the extra 2% from Giving Assistant wouldn’t be worth the potential extra hassle as it’ll never materialize.

I have pending and payable cashback with Giving Assistant (fortunately only a few bucks) and never received any notice. I bet I am not the only one. Thank you for posting this.
Topcashback is down for “maintenance” this morning. Probably trying to stop the run on the bank
I’d been using Giving Assistant since like 2019 and ended up getting about $700 USD sent to my paypal. Never really had any issues with there payments, they were always quick once I had met the minimum time + amount.
But yeah, it was a bit hit or miss whether or not they’d detect my purchases. Occasionally if it was a big purchase I reach out to support and they always replied and helped out, though not the fastest replies.
Had noticed some rates had lowered recently and allot of things wern’t being matched anymore, and had trouble logging in sometimes. I ended up moving to a new cashback site a few months back.
Sad to hear they’ve folded. I always thought cashback sites had pretty low overhead, surprised they couldn’t survive.
