Update 12/9/19: I’ve received a reply from TopCashback about this and it turns out my suspicions were incorrect – they are indeed currently only offering cashback on the brands listed below.
Here’s what they stated:
Currently Raise are only awarding cashback on those select branded gift cards over $20 mentioned on the cashback offer. So any purchase of a gift card outside of those selected brands would not return any cashback.
I haven’t noticed these terms on any other portals yet, so I’m curious if it’s only TopCashback that has been targeted with this requirement, or if other portals are similarly affected but simply haven’t updated their terms.
Reader EW has reached out to highlight the fact that TopCashback is currently specifically mentioning certain gift card brands as being eligible for cashback on Raise:
- Nordstrom
- Staples
- Best Buy
- Kmart
- Macy’s
- Bloomingdale’s
- Sears
- Hyatt
- iTunes
- Amazon
- Sears (in-store)
- Kmart (in-store)
- Starbucks
This might mean that only those brands are eligible for cashback which would be strange as these cards aren’t listed on a handful of other shopping portals that I just checked. I suspect that those brands are listed as examples of gift cards that you can earn cashback on, rather than being a list of the only brands that are eligible for cashback.
TopCashback has had confusing language on their listing for Raise in the past, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is another example of that. That being said, it’s worth being aware of this in case you’re planning on buying any brands not specifically listed on TopCashback.
I’ve reached out to TopCashback to confirm the situation, so I’ll update this post once I receive a reply.
[…] one – here are the current rates. However, be sure to read the terms carefully; for example, TopCashback is only offering cashback on about a dozen different gift card brands at the moment, most of which aren’t eligible brands for this promo […]
