Just a quick heads up that AARP Rewards has announced that on Cyber Monday – November 28, 2022 – they’ll be running five Daily Deals where they sell discounted gift cards.
They haven’t said what those deals will be, but based on the fact that they gave a 52% discount on $25 DSW gift cards for Black Friday, I imagine the deals will be good and likely at a higher discount and denomination rather than the 30% discounts on $10 gift cards we usually see for Daily Deals.
Daily Deals always start at 12pm ET and that’s no exception with their Cyber Monday sale. Having said that, the phrasing makes it sound like the five deals will be staggered, rather than all going live at 12pm:
Deals start at noon, come back then to see the first of 5 offers!
I’ll post about these deals as and when they go live, but I wanted to post this now seeing as the timing of the offers will be a bit of a departure from the norm.
But, if we already purchased 5 GCs this month, then we can’t partake in the Monday deals, right?
I believe that’s correct. I wouldn’t be too bothered about missing out, though — it’s almost impossible to actually buy a card during one of these promotions due to extremely limited stock and the constantly malfunctioning AARP website.
During yesterday’s DSW offer, I was able to cart the card. It actually let me go through the checkout process, which sat in processing for a few minutes. Eventually, it errored out. I tried refreshing a few times, and no luck, it said sold out. Five minutes later, the card arrived in my email and credit card was charged.
Okay – one more question: will these Monday deals be for paid members only? Or, anyone with an AARP account login?
I think regular Daily Deals are available for anyone, so I imagine Monday’s deals will be the same. I’ve had an AARP membership for years though, so I’ve never actually checked if it’s available for non-members.
Thanks for the heads-up on this Stephen. (as per usual) Given how “good” the DSW deal was, maybe we’ll see more worthwhile deals.
ps, despite how compelling the deal was, I too 0snared one of the DSW cards on Friday. Seems to help for me to be sure I’m logged into my account before the clock strikes noon…. then if it doesn’t work at first, keep trying a bit, even logging out and coming back….)
well gollly, snagged 30% off Belk at noon (despite being 8 minutes late to the party) Four more deals to follow, apparently, at top of each hour til 5.
“Join us on Cyber Monday (11/28) for five special Daily Deals! From noon-5PM ET, find a new deal every hour featuring 30% off your favorite brands, including Bed Bath & Beyond, Wayfair, Belk, NFL Shop, and Crate & Barrel. Check back hourly to snag these hot deals – while supplies last.”
Wow, that’s not a particularly compelling selection of cards. Last year they had Kroger at 30% off.
About availability, I noticed the Belk $30 deal (for $21) stayed in stock the entire hour. At 2:00 pm, the NFL Shop card. (same #’s)
Correction, at 1:00 pm (est) the NFL Shop card appeared. (not 2)
Yes, that seems to underscore the relative lameness of the deals.
