MyGiftCardsPlus has launched its own multi-store gift card called SweetGifter. This looks like it’s more akin to Blackhawk Network’s One4All gift cards rather than Choice, Happy and Giving Good gift cards as it’s eligible at more than 100 retailers and restaurants rather than only a handful.
What makes this type of multi-brand card potentially even more interesting than One4All gift cards is the comprehensive list of eligible brands. Those include many high value brands like Amazon, Best Buy, eBay, Nike, Walmart, Safeway and more.
There’s a SweetGifter website, but if you want to buy one of these cards it directs you back to MyGiftCardsPlus. MyGiftCardsPlus is only offering 1% cashback on these gift cards, so there’s not a reselling play here right now, but perhaps we’ll see occasional deals where they offer 5% cashback (I doubt we’d see anything higher than that given the inclusion of Amazon, Best Buy, etc.) Despite them only offering 1% cashback, this could still be of interest for gifting purposes if you want to send a multi-store gift card to a friend or relative seeing as this seems to have the best selection of any multi-store card.
There could be another interesting use case for these cards too. MyGiftCardsPlus lets you earn cashback in a variety of ways due to it being owned by Prodege which owns several websites. That includes Upromise, Swagbucks, MyPoints and more. You can choose to earn cashback through any of those programs when buying gift cards from MyGiftCardsPlus and it’s Swagbucks in particular that could be of interest. Swagbucks has a Daily Bonus challenge where if you earn a certain number of points (i.e. cashback) you earn some bonus cashback. That bonus cashback is normally minimal for Goal 1, but higher at Goal 2. If you hit at least Goal 1 for seven days in a row, you get additional bonus cashback, then additional bonuses at 14 days, 21 days, etc. Buying these SweetGifter gift cards will earn you cashback that will contribute to hitting those bonuses so some people might find that helpful, although the benefit will likely be marginal.
Another play here might be that Swagbucks and MyPoints have frequent promotions (about every other month) where you get a $5 bonus (back to your account in SB or PTS) for making a purchase on MyGiftCardsPlus. Not very scalable, but good for personal use.
Also, while Safeway appears on the graphic above taken from the SweetGifter website, it is not actually on the list of available cards. So proceed with caution unless one of the other options is an acceptable back-up.
Update: There are three lists of available merchants, and they are all different.
The graphic banner has all of the high-value merchants listed in this post.
The list on this page does not have Safeway: https://www.sweetgifter.com/
And the list on the code redemption page does not have Safeway or Walmart: https://www.sweetgifter.com/merchants
Again, proceed with caution if you are counting on Safeway or Walmart as you redemption options.
What about using the Upromise Mastercard to pay for these? Would that get you an additional $250 back per year?
“Earn up to $250 per year in additional cash back rewards when you shop a wide selection of gift cards at MyGiftCardsPlus.com when you pay with your Upromise® Mastercard®1
How does it work?
You’ll need to register or log in to MyGiftCardsPlus.com, then pay for the gift cards using your Upromise® Mastercard®. You’ll earn the following cash back rewards bonuses on purchases within a calendar month:
Yep, that would work if you were a cardholder who wasn’t already earning those bonuses on other purchases each month.
