Tips & Ideas

We sometimes see Marriott Amex Offers giving 20% back, so this is even better seeing as you can get back up to 25% back. It’s also nice that you only have to spend $200 to trigger the statement credit as a paid weekend away should generate the $50 statement credit.

If you’re not planning a stay at any of Marriott’s brands in the participating regions, it should be possible to buy a $200 Marriott gift card from a front desk to trigger the statement credit and lock in the 25% discount. The biggest challenge with this will be finding a property that not only has physical gift cards in stock, but has staff members who know how to actually sell you the gift card.

Note that gift card purchases are excluded, but that’s likely more a reference to the fact that online gift card purchases won’t trigger the statement credit – gift card purchases from a front desk should be fine.
