Tips & Ideas
When buying third party gift cards, 4x fuel points can be worth up to 14% off gas which is a decent amount of savings if you can refuel to the 35 gallon limit. The equations are different for the fixed-value Visa and Mastercard gift cards due to the purchase fees on them, but if you can refuel 13.5 gallons or more, buying $100 Visa or Mastercard gift cards can be profitable before taking into account the liquidation costs. This offer should be available at all of Kroger’s affiliate stores which include Ralphs, Fry’s, Smith’s, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Harris Teeter and more.
To take advantage of this offer in-store, you have to load the digital coupons we’ve linked to above. For online gift card purchases from Kroger, you’ll earn 4x automatically. However, be aware that online purchases are processed by Blackhawk Network and so won’t code as a grocery purchase unlike in-store purchases.
As of March 20, 2024, you no longer earn 4x points on Amazon gift cards, although you will still earn 2x fuel points as standard.

Are Amazon and Best Buy excluded from the 4x in-store? I can’t find them online
They’re eligible in-store – Kroger just doesn’t sell either of those brands online.
Super helpful to know that as I was wondering the same thing and assumed that Amazon was excluded since it said “select gift cards” Off to in-store I go!!!
Is this confirmed for Harris teeter as well?

Their weekly ad comes out tomorrow online, so it should be in there if they do. I’d imagine they’ll be running a 4x promo seeing as their fuel promos closely follow Kroger’s.

Does this Jan’22 4x offer exist for Teeter? I took a quick look and I’m not seeing anything.
Sorry, that text was in there from a past promotion. I expect Harris Teeter will be offering this same promo, but when checking yesterday the digital coupons weren’t available yet – those will presumably become available on Friday Jan 7.

I don’t live in a state with Kroger’s. I have an online account but not yet signed up for Kroger rewards. Do I need to use a zip code in the state where they are located or I can use my regular zip code and address which is associated with my Kroger online account in order to sign up for Kroger fuel rewards
Very interesting… Looks like that first 4x coupon link isn’t working anymore…. And did you catch the dates on the second 4x coupon — valid June 29 to July 12th ? (this is worse that the chaos I flagged for you from that email a few days ago) Kroger’s fps program is a chaotic mess right now, like most of their stores in my area.
The 2nd link took me to a coupon that was June 29th to July 12th.
Anyone know if the fuel benefit can be stacked in the BP fuel app? I can’t seem to figure out how to add it.
FYI – I purchased a variable Home Depot gc during a 4x promotion last weekend for $500 and was only given 2x fuel points. When I contacted customer service I was told that “variable rate cards do not qualify for 4x promotion.” This has been true in the past for Visa/Mastercard, and is specifically mentioned in the terms, but I’ve not had this happen with variable rate Amazon or Best Buy cards ever, makes me concerned it will happen and they will now only come up as 2x from now on.
I too have encountered random acts of kroger computer not crediting me with 4x, esp. with on-line purchases. Don’t think though issue is v/l. What you apparently were told is simply incorrect. V/l has NOTHING, per se, to do with whether a gc is eligible for 4x. (last weekend, for example, I bought v/l Arby’s, Doordash, and Panera, all at $15…. All earned 4x on selected value of the card. (boosted, separately, by 200 point bonus coupons keyed to the brand…. even there, I’ve had random misfires lately — coupon loaded, but not credited) Alas, conundrum herein is one hesitates to call in, lest one gets eyes on the account.
fascinating indeed re. 4x becoming the ‘norm” of late. OTOH, not too surprised by this one as (from your ever helpful rendition of past similar promos), we saw extended 4x gc windows for mid September past two years as well. footnote: otoh, taking nothing for granted.
Heard one veteran csr at one very busy KR in va recently proclaim that “the program” would be ending by year end. (she may have been referring to coupons for fuel points….) May have been wishful thinking on her part, but she seemed so sure of herself.
FYI, got 4x on a variable MCGC today at King Soopers. Certainly wasn’t expecting it per the terms. It was a Pathward card.

To be clear, Kroger 4x coupons are not valid at Harris Teeter, I just have to rely on Harris Teeter running promotions at the same time to earn 4x?
Yes, Harris Teeter should have a corresponding 4x digital coupon.
I keep getting two error messages: one that it can’t be mailed to NY please enter a different address. Not sure why, I live in NJ and didn’t put NY. Other one is that it says I hit the limit for the day which is $1002 please remove something from cart but I have only 9 $100 MCGC in my cart totaling <$1000. Any advice?

Unfortunately not – those and variable load Visa and Mastercard gift cards don’t earn 4x.
Does Harris Teeter have a limit of FPs per transaction? Apple GC $500 only gives me 1,000 points after the eVIC coupon is clipped.

Looks like there is a new daily purchase limit for Kroger online of $1,002.
I routinely buy cards from Kroger online. Seasoned accounts can get away with a few thousand in spend a day, and IIRC the daily limit across all brands was $10k, with some brands (like Apple) having daily limits of $1k.
As of this morning, I’m trying to place an order for $3k and I’m getting hit with “Your order could not be processed because the total for gift products in your cart exceeds $1002.00, our daily order limit for consumers.”
@Road_Dog, are you able to order online and receive fuel points whenever there is a 4x coupon?
My online orders from 5/24/24-5/27/24 did not track on old and new accounts, but in store worked fine.

Whether there is a 4x coupon is irrelevant. As long as giftcards.kroger.com is indicating there is a 4x sale, you’ll get 4x buying online. It just so happens that the online sales tend to coincide with the in-person sales (but you don’t need to clip the coupon to get 4x).
I’ve learned that you have to click through the 4x sale banner (to see all cards getting 4x) and select your brand that way. If you navigate elsewhere or do a search for your brand, you risk buying the GC without the 4x attached. It’s wonky like that.
@Stephen Pepper or anyone, are you aware of any solution to avoid online order cancellations due to the below reason? I created an account some time ago and it was working until yesterday when my orders for Apple cards started getting cancelled with the below message. Thanks.
