Tips & Ideas
If you buy a $50 Visa or Mastercard gift card, the $5 Kroger eGift card more than covers the purchase fee on the card. The better option though is to buy a $500 variable load gift card; although its purchase fee is slightly higher at $5.95, paying with a card that earns more at grocery stores will make that much more worthwhile.
I wonder how to get the egift card using self-checkout. Will the kiosk print out a gift card code after checkout?
I’m not sure; perhaps that or maybe Kroger will send it to the email address on the account.
Thanks! I’ll be a data point in the next couple of days 😎
They had an offer like this within the last month or so and it seems folks didn’t ever get the $5 GC at least not without chasing it. I’ll give it a shot since I’d be buying cards anyway.
It gets emailed to you a few mins after making the purchase, nothing extra prints with the receipt
Expect to have to run this down. I did this last time when it was $5 egift on $100 and got nothing. Nothing on receipt, nothing via email, manager at store could not help. I chatted into kroger corp and they put a $10 credit on my kroger account but I would expect this to not work again and have to work for some kind of comp. Take a screenshot of the digital coupon loaded in your account.
I just bought a VGC by US Bank from Kroger. Although I confirmed I clipped the coupon before checkout, I did not get the egift card, nor did I receive any email from Kroger. I suspect the coupon only applies to certain varieties of VGC and MCGC. The app lists some UPC numbers eligible for the discounts.
I have bought several Mastercard GCs this week (was going to buy them anyway). As I pretty much expected given other folks’ prior experiences no email, no egift card and the coupon is still in my account unused.
I can confirm that the purchase of $500 US Bank VGC did not trigger any email for the eGC, I did 5 transactions without any luck. Called Kroger Customer Service and got $5 credit in one of the account, good for in store or online. Wish I had read this post before the purchase.
No egift email on 2 accounts, got credit added using live chat. Haven’t yet try to use the credit. Live chat said there’s no indication of the credit on the account but should work at a checkout and if using SCO the store clerk will go verify at your register.
