Tips & Ideas
I’m confused by this “deal”. It’s featured prominently in a couple of places in their weekly ad, but it doesn’t seem to be a deal at all. Gift card purchases at Giant Eagle normally earn 1 Fuelperk+ per dollar, so buying a $50 Amazon gift card should, in theory, offer 50 Fuelperks+ rather than 25.
There must therefore be something I’m missing here. Are Amazon gift cards normally excluded from earning Fuelperks+ and so this is actually notable? Or is this Giant Eagle announcing a devaluation of their program when buying Amazon gift cards? I know ShopRite doesn’t sell Amazon gift cards, so perhaps there’s something similar with Giant Eagle. I’m rarely near their stores, so I’m not familiar enough with their program to know. If you have any idea what’s going on here, please let us know in the comments below.
Update: Apparently Amazon just came back to Giant Eagle, so this is a positive development of sorts. It doesn’t bode well though that it’s returned at a lower earning rate than all other brands. h/t dcatast
Stephen, can you please send the link on where you now see Amazon gift cards available at Giant Eagle? They were removed from Giant Eagle with great fanfare in March, 2019.
I see the reference in the weekly circular; but I don’t see them on their website. Perhaps the website now being run by Blackhawk Network has something to do with this?
Regardless, this would be a positive development!
Thank you for any additional info you can provide!
I think this is only going to be in-store – I’m not aware of anyone other than Fluz who can sell Amazon eGift cards.
