Bad news for restaurant-goers in Texas – the parent company of Fuddruckers and Luby’s has announced that both restaurant chains will close and liquidate.
Most of their locations had already closed, but a few have remained open recently. If you have any Fuddruckers or Luby’s gift cards, it would therefore be best to order food from those locations to redeem your cards if they’re close enough to you. Gift cards for both these brands have gone on sale on a few occasions in the past at BJ’s Wholesale Club, Sam’s Club and H-E-B, so people might still be holding cards from those sales.
The article linked to above also notes the following:
Luby’s CEO and president is Christopher Pappas. He is also the CEO and co-owner of Pappas Restaurants, the Texas company that operates Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Pappasito’s Cantina, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse and more.
H-E-B has sometimes included Pappas and Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen as an eligible brand for its gift card deals. While Pappas Restaurants hasn’t announced any closure or liquidation plans, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re struggling in a similar way. As a result, it might be worth redeeming any Pappas gift cards you have too.
You broke the story before any of the local news outlets here in San Antonio! My wife was very sad when I sent her a link to your post.
Thanks! Credit goes to Dallas News though 🙂
