I wrote a post yesterday – and have updated it a few times since – about ways to stack gift card purchases in the Fluz app with additional rewards from your credit card and other apps when paying via PayPal.
I forgot to include an important piece of information though which is how to choose which credit card to pay with when selecting PayPal as the payment option. That’s because once you’ve linked your PayPal account in Fluz, it seems to choose a default payment card, even if it’s not the one you want to use for any given transaction.
The solution takes a couple of extra steps each time you go to pay, but it’s quick and easy to do and is worth the effort if you’re able to stack any of the methods outlined in that other post.
Step 1 – Change Payment Method
When you’ve selected the gift card brand and value you want to buy, you’ll be taken through to the payment screen. This will default to a credit card, so tap the dropdown box. Even if it shows PayPal as the default, you’ll still want to change it.
Step 2 – Select PayPal From The Bottom Row
This step is the most important one. You should now see two rows of payment options. The top row allows you to scroll through all your saved payment options – credit card, bank account, PayPal, etc. Even if PayPal is listed as a saved account in the top row – don’t select that.
Instead, select PayPal from the bottom row where it says ‘Add Payment Method’. That will log you in to PayPal (you shouldn’t need to enter your password if you have it set up for One Touch login) and you can then select which credit card you want Fluz to charge.
You’ll want to do that every time you want to use PayPal to pay for a gift card using Fluz just to make sure that it’ll charge the correct card.
[…] Update 4: Fluz won’t necessarily use the credit card you want to be charged via PayPal automatically. There are therefore a couple of quick steps you need to take when checking out each time – read this post for what to do. […]
Fluz is erroring out when trying to use Paypal. Any DP’s of it working recently?
I used it just the other day.
