Tips & Ideas
Card Depot is a relatively new site which sells third party gift cards. I know the people behind Card Depot and trust them, so I’m more than comfortable buying gift cards from them.
Their site is similar to Raise and CardCash in that they’re reselling gift cards, so the cards you buy from Card Depot can’t then be resold on Raise as they’re not strictly first-hand. Similar to CardCash, they guarantee the cards for 45 days and can be contacted via an online form, email, phone or mail if you have any problems.
To test it out for myself, I bought a $25 Uber Eats gift card. The checkout process was smooth and I immediately received an email confirming my order. Seeing as it was my first order the gift card wasn’t issued immediately, but within a few minutes I received a second email confirming that my email was complete and my gift card was available. Card Depot does advise that it could take a few hours for your order to come through, but similar to other online retailers your subsequent orders should be processed more quickly once your account is a little more seasoned.
The order details screen hides most of the gift card number (and PIN if applicable). Click on the eye to view the card details, or click the icon to its right if you’d like to print off the card details.
Note that the GCGALORE promo code is only valid for one time use. If you’re wanting to buy multiple gift cards, you’ll therefore need to add them all to your cart before checking out in order to get the 5% discount. With a maximum discount of $10, you’ll max it out when spending $200.
Purchases will code as miscellaneous, but it might be possible to earn bonus rewards by paying with a card that earns more for online purchases. I paid with my Bank of America Cash Rewards card as I’ve selected Online Shopping as my 3% category. It’s too early to know if it has indeed coded as an online purchase, but that’s something to consider when choosing which card to pay with.
For full disclosure, I earn a small commission for every two new users I refer. Once you have an account, you can earn an additional 5% discount code for every two new users you refer, with your friends also receiving a code for 5% off. You can get your referral link here once you’ve set up your account.
I signed up using your referral link but when confirming my payment, it directed me to a 404 | Not Found page.
Thanks for the heads up – I’ll let them know.
I’ve just heard back from them – they’ve fixed the issue and so your account should be fine now 🙂
Thank you Stephen. I think because the first order was canceled due to the 404 redirect, I wasn’t able to use your promo code again. But I will keep an eye when there’s a deal next time.
Update – The Card Depot Team reached out to me today about the technical difficulty and sent me a new promo code.
That’s great – I’m glad you’ll still get to take advantage of the discount 🙂
Just tried this code after I signed up for the first time and it said “Wrong promo code, check it and try again”. Looks like it’s expired.
Thanks for the heads up – the code has been reactivated, so you should be able to use it again now.
Just tried to give them a second chance. The promo code worked this time, but then my payment was declined. I tried 3 different cards. Then my cart’s 5 minute time limit expired, so I tried adding the gift card to my cart again and now the promo code does not work again. Probably thinks it’s already been used when it hasn’t. Not so sure I’ll give them a third shot, but let’s see.. Tried calling the support number and no answer. Sent a text, still waiting for a reply. Just giving you my honest experience with them. So far it’s been disappointing.
Sorry about your hassles – I’ll reach out to them separately to make sure they’re aware of the issue you’re having.
I appreciate this post. I came across it looking for any reviews and was hopeful it wasn’t a scam. Saved 7% compared to 3.1 on all other sites. Biggest issue was me not realizing I had to open the pdf to access the actual numbers. Hope this helps the next person in search of reviews.
