Tips & Ideas
Both of these are good offers seeing as Best Buy will be break even or profitable for many resellers, while the Vanilla Visa offer almost makes it fee-free. Paying with a card that earns more at gas stations (provided your local Cumberland Farms codes as gas) could therefore make these deals worth doing.

This is the worst Gas station chain. None of their gift card offers take the discount at the register. It would be a waste of time to even try buying these. So far at least 3 to 4 offers from last 1.5 years have never worked.
Actually this time when I tried it the cashier had a sheet that they scanned that took the discount off. (This was the Vanilla one.) Haven’t tried it at other stores
Good to know. Let me see if the 2 near me have this sheet. Thanks!
Did at automatically take discount off the register and both stores near me had no clue why it did not work and did not have any sheet to scan.
Hmm…maybe it was that this store got asked for the discount a lot, so they decided to do something about it? Maybe if you’re consistently politely bothersome enough about wanting it…
Okay, I just tried it at another store, and the first cashier didn’t know about the discount, but the second guy (didn’t catch the titles) figured out how to apply it from a similar printout. What times of day did you go? I went at night, but if you go in the morning/early afternoon you might catch a manager who knows how to apply the discount
I had to call both stores near me in the morning so that I can talk directly to a manager. Mentioned to them about all these gift card deals not taking the said discount automatically and people working at the store have no clue on how it works and what needs to be done if it does not work. One store manager said she will let the company that is responsible for the gift card rack.
The other store manager knew about it not working. He said he will train his store employees on how to apply the discount. He also mentioned I am probably the only one buying these gift cards and checking about the discount not applying. I also mentioned about the sheet that they sometimes carry to scan and apply the discount. After speaking, I went in store 2 days later in the evening and still the employees had no clue. But then one of them rang up the manager and he asked her to apply the discount on the register as a manufacturer’s coupon. I am wondering, the manager probably thought I was buying just 1 gift card. I took like 6 Best Buy gift cards which was all left on the rack and the lady ended up applying $5 off manufacturer’s coupon discount for each card all under one transaction. But she was not happy about it. So, its really a pain doing this.
That’s not really what I meant…I just meant mentioning that there was a sign advertising a discount when it didn’t come off at the register
