If taking advantage of the ‘Spend $49, get $15 back’ Amex Offer, note that buying a $50 gift card won’t work because the 15% discount from this new offer will reduce its price to $42.50. You’ll therefore need to buy a $75 gift card for $63.75; with the additional $15 back from Amex, you’ll be getting a $75 gift card for $48.75. That’s a total of 35% off which is a great discount.
