Costco has a Price Adjustment policy which allows you to make a claim for a refund if you buy a product from them and the price subsequently decreases in the following 30 days.
From October 24-30, Costco dropped the price of 2x $50 Uber gift cards from $79.99 to $74.99 – a $5 difference. You can therefore claim back $5 for each pack you bought in the last 30 days.
For online purchases you can do that here. It’s a quick and easy process – you just select the month you bought the cards and then select your order number, then you should get a refund within 5-10 business days.
For in-store purchases, you have to go to the Returns counter. Seeing as these have a limit of two, if you’ve bought tons of them in the last month I’d be careful about requesting a refund in case they decide to end your membership instead.
I tried in-store and was told by the returns specialist and three managers that they do not provide price adjustments on any gift card purchases. Maybe it was my store only. Costco has previously provided price adjustments for online gift card purchases (see the SWA deal this past spring), so that should work.
I’m curious why you think they would end your membership over calling attention to repeated gift card purchases. I’ve been buying DoorDash, Instacart, and Uber pretty regularly in-store for resale since the sales started in the spring, and it’s never caught the attention of anyone. More often than not, the cashiers remark at how good of a deal it is. I suppose I could be questioned on the purchases, but would in any case answer that they are for personal use.
There’s a limit of 2 per brand. While you can get around those limits by buying them in separate transactions, some store managers might take issue with that and I’ve seen (very) occasional data points of people having their memberships cancelled when the store has caught on to what they’re doing. Calling attention to it therefore didn’t seem too wise; you could get a new membership, but if the store knows what you look like, that could cause issues in the future over these one-time $5 credits which might not be worth it. It’s up to people to assess their own risk though.
Also, the terms exclude resellers which they could easily assume you are and so legitimately deny you the refund anyway.
I did this online for my membership and P2’s. Also did one instore purchase. Not pushing my luck on doing more than that.
Mine were all denied hours later
I could only get the adjustment on 2 (the limit), but it’s still $10
My (online) also denied. Because I exceeded limits.
P1, P2, P3 and P4’s price adjustment requests for their online orders (originally placed on October 23) were all denied due to “Promotional offer already applied”…
Since the limits online reset every two weeks I ordered two sets in the 30 days preceeding the price drop on 10/24. I submitted both, but one was denied saying something like I already got my one adjustment.
