Tips & Ideas
The terms make it seem like you might need to have the BeFrugal browser extension installed, so be aware of that if you want to take advantage of this offer.
You could buy a $25 gift card from Giftcards.com or GiftCardMall to earn the $4 bonus cashback which is a 16% return; that’s on top of the regular cashback earnings.
I don’t think that having the extension is required based on the bolded part of this quote from the terms: “Examples of this would include clicking a store on the extension popup, or clicking the BeFrugal prompt to “Activate Cash Back” or “Apply Coupons” while shopping or checking out on a retailer’s site.”
I think that prompt relates to the popup that their browser extension provides, rather than that being what you’d click through from on their website.
BeFrugal used to be reputable and reliable,, but my recent experiences with them have been very negative.
First, P2 and I made four purchases during similar prior promotions using the extension. None tracked. One of the four missing cashback claims was denied within one hour — which obviously means BeFrugal submitted it incorrectly, as affiliate networks do not respond that fast. BeFrugal refused to resubmit the claim.
Second,, both P2 and I have had cashback from legitimate purchases of merchandise reversed by BeFrugal recently, allegedly due to merchants denying cashback after the purchases had already been tracked and verified. BeFrugal claimed that the missing cashback claims also were denied, even though the status of the allegedly denied purchases turned to “payable” in the account. I felt that I was being gaslighted by them, and they have lost my trust.
Proceed with caution.
Update: BeFrugal has revised the terms to delete the (apparently erroneous) reference to the extension.
