Amazon has sadly made a change to their system which means you can no longer buy third party gift cards with Amazon gift cards.
Amazon’s terms and conditions had always stated that this wasn’t allowed, but their system did let you do this. For the most part, they seemed to turn a blind eye when people did this within reason, but I had seen people mention in the past that their accounts had been closed and/or their Amazon gift card balances had been wiped out due to Amazon frowning on this behavior.
The biggest no-no for them in the past seemed to be buying Best Buy gift cards with your Amazon gift card balance. Back when you could get 100%+ as the resale rate on Best Buy gift cards, buying those using your Amazon gift card balance where you’d bought the Amazon cards at a discount, with fuel points, etc., meant that could be a nicely profitable deal.
That’s all no more though. Amazon has hardcoded their system to prevent you from paying for third party gift cards with your gift card balance. RIP.
Worst gift card news of the year. Tragic.
War on happiness
GameStop stopped taking gcs to pay for gcs also. Pretty solid body blow to my gc ecosystem.
The buy gc with gc gig (aka one of my fav gigs) is pretty much dead. Is Costco the only one left?
Seems like you can still use AGC on some things that are labeled as ‘[Online Game Code]'[Digital Code]’
Looks like they catched up on this and started blocking those as well. Haven’t confirm with all, but so far Online Game Code is blocked
Curse you, Amazon…
