In the past, Amazon held Prime Day in July of each year. That changed last year when they moved it to October for pandemic-related reasons and it’s once again being moved from its normal slot for 2021.
However, it’s not going to be in October this year. Instead, it sounds like it’s going to be held in June 2021. During an earnings conference call, Amazon’s CFO stated that they’re testing its timing by holding it “later in Q2”.
Considering it’s May tomorrow, it’s unlikely that he meant it’d be held in late May (seeing as that could conceivably be classed as “later in Q2”) as that’d only be a few weeks away. That only leaves June if it is indeed to be held in Q2.
That’s great news for anyone who took out an annual Prime subscription in 2020 as it means they’ll get two Prime Days included as part of that subscription. Prime Day and the days leading up to it tend to bring with them a bunch of gift card deals, so that’s always a welcome time of the year. I’ll update this post once we have a definite date for when it’ll be held in June.
