I’m not sure how recent this change is, but Best Buy is now selling Amazon eGift cards online.
In the past, Best Buy had Amazon gift cards listed on their website, but you could only buy them to pick them up in-store. With this new development, you can now buy Amazon eGift cards instead and have them delivered to your inbox.
That’s a great development because it means that when there are Amex Offers and Chase Offers for Best Buy, you can use those to buy Amazon gift cards at a discount. Payment for third party gift cards (like Amazon) from Best Buy’s website is processed by Best Buy which is why the statement credits for those types of spending offers will get triggered.
It’s interesting that Best Buy is willing to sell Amazon eGift cards online considering they’re competitors. It’s also interesting that Amazon is willing to let Best Buy sell their eGift cards online because Amazon has historically had very strict rules about who can sell their eGift cards. I’m curious if this will presage Amazon opening things up to other retailers like Staples.com, Giftcards.com, etc.
