Update: It looks like these changes might not necessarily be so bad. This coming week the Daily Deals will be $25 gift cards for $17, so a 32% discount. That includes brands like Home Depot, Lowe’s and Macy’s, so hopefully the 20% discounts are only intermittently going to be offered rather than that being the more common deal. That said, it might just be that they’re offering a higher discount for the week leading up to St Patrick’s Day – we’ll see.
Every day during the week, AARP Rewards runs Daily Deals. These are discounts on gift cards and have historically given a 30% discount; usually on $10 denominations, but sometimes $20 and $50 cards.
They appeared to switch things up last week and that’s continuing this week. It now looks like most discounts will be at the 20% level rather than 30% which is disappointing. However, the silver lining is that it looks like most cards will be higher denominations – $20 or $25.
If you’re someone who liked to take advantage of Daily Deals, it’ll therefore be important to double check the cost of each deal so that you don’t get caught out buying cards you think are at a 30% discount when they’re in fact only discounted by 20%.
A little smarmy AARP, a little smarmy.
Booooo
How do you know what’s coming for the whole next week? I see the Home Depot offer on the Redeem page but nothing about Lowe’s or Macy’s.
They usually publish the upcoming deals here https://community.aarp.org/t5/AARP-Rewards/ct-p/AARPRewards
