Tips & Ideas
A 25% discount at White House Black Market is a decent offer seeing as you can buy a physical gift card online or in-store to lock in the savings. That could also make this a good deal for reselling. Note that their eGift cards have payments processed by CashStar and so buying those won’t trigger the Amex Offer.
This appears to be a targeted offer as neither my wife nor I had the offer on any of our cards. There might also be a version of this White House Black Market Amex Offer which is giving 2,500 Membership Rewards, but that might not be the case.
If you’re planning on buying gift cards online, click through from a portal on the off-chance that it tracks – you can find the rates here and here. If buying in-store, it might be possible to earn cashback by linking your Amex card on a shopping portal that offers in-store cashback/rewards. For example, Rakuten is currently offering 5% at White House Black Market. Gift card purchases are specifically excluded though and cashback earned from gift card purchases have been clawed back in the past, so certainly don’t count on that working.
Update: As mentioned at the start of the post, there’s a version of this offer giving a $25 statement credit when spending $150+. That’s obviously not as good as it’s only a 16.67% discount.
