Tips & Ideas
It’s good to see these holiday promos return, so I imagine we’ll see the American, Alaska and Delta portals offer similar promos in the next week or so.
Southwest’s offer is a little weird because you’ll either earn 5x, 2x or 3.5x bonus points if spending at the exact thresholds listed, whereas with United you’ll earn 5x bonus miles regardless of the threshold if you spend the exact amount required.
As always with these shopping portal promos, gift card purchases are excluded, but that seems to be because gift card purchases don’t normally track through portals. In reality, purchases from Raise and GiftCards.com should trigger the bonuses, although GiftCards.com isn’t an option on the Southwest portal.
Another thing to bear in mind is that you’re limited to earning cashback/rewards on $2,000 of GiftCards.com purchases each month. If the other airline shopping portals run similar promotions, that means you’ll only be able to max out the promotions on two portals. If you might prefer earning miles with Alaska, American or Delta, it might be worth holding off a week or two before making a GiftCards.com purchase so that you can allocate your spend accordingly.
