Tips & Ideas
Spending exactly $125 will earn you an extra 4x MileagePlus miles per dollar, while spending exactly $300 will earn you an extra 3.33x MileagePlus miles per dollar. That can be a good return on stores that normally only offer 0.5x or 1x through the portal.
Gift cards are listed as being excluded, but buying gift cards from GiftCardMall, GiftCards.com or Raise should trigger the bonus miles.
Hey Stephen, did you receive the 1000 bonus miles? I am not seeing those on my account.
The terms state it can take 6-8 weeks for the bonus miles to be added and in my experience that’s how long they take to post them, so they probably won’t show up until late August.
Ok, thanks. Also, in the post you stated “Gift cards are listed as being excluded, but buying gift cards from GiftCardMall, GiftCards.com or Raise should trigger the bonus miles.”
Could you explain? Is it just one of those situations where their terms state one thing, but they don’t actually enforce those terms in the real world?
Sort of. I think they exclude gift cards because usually when you buy gift cards from a retailer it doesn’t track the purchase for earning from a portal, so they don’t want people buying a $125 gift card from, say, Old Navy online and being disappointed that they don’t earn the bonus miles from the promotion.
In the case of GiftCardMall, GiftCards.com and Raise though, they’re all eligible retailers from whom you can buy gift cards via the portal to earn miles. Seeing as purchases of gift cards from them track as normal, they also trigger the bonus miles from promotions such as these.
Makes sense. Thanks
