Tips & Ideas

Although there are several excluded retailers, Raise and GiftCards.com aren’t among them. If you buy a low value gift card from one of them, you can save a large percentage amount.

With GiftCards.com, your savings could be as much as 32%. That’s based on buying a $10 gift card so it’s not amazing, but could be good as a stocking stuffer or for personal use. TopCashback is currently offering 2% cashback for third party gift card purchases, so buying a $10 gift card will earn $0.20 cashback; with the $3 bonus, that comes to a total of $3.20.

The math with Raise is a little different as you only earn cashback when spending $20 or more. If you buy a card that costs exactly $20, you’ll earn 4% cashback for $0.80 cashback, plus the $3 bonus for a total of $3.80 – that’s savings of 19%. Note that the amount you have to spend on Raise has to be at least $20 – a $20 gift card that costs less won’t be eligible. Cash back gift cards also aren’t eligible for cashback, so it has to be a card that’s been discounted.
