- Citi is sending out targeted offers to cardholders offering bonus points when adding an authorized user & spending a certain amount. One example is:
- Earn 2,500 points after you add an authorized user and you or your authorized user spends $2,000 on purchases.

- Offer valid on purchases between November 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.

Citi offered a similar deal a month or two ago, except that previous offer was better as it only required $1,000 of spend. I received this offer on my Citi Premier card and it works out to be 1.25 bonus points per dollar when spending exactly $2,000. That’s not great, but if all that spend was completed in a bonused spend category then it might be worthwhile. For example, the Citi Premier card already earns 3x at grocery stores, so adding an authorized user would mean $2,000 of spend there would earn 4.25 ThankYou points per dollar.
The nice thing about these types of offers is that Citi allows the main cardholder to complete the spend requirement, rather than it having to be the authorized user. I suspect similar offers are being sent out on other types of Citi cards, so keep an eye on your email in case you get an offer that’s better than this.
