Tips & Ideas
Target runs this deal every year, although I’m wondering if they’ll be running it again in December because that’s when they normally run their 10% off deal.
This latest 10% discount is a little different to normal because it’s only available to RedCard holders. You can get a RedCard debit card free without a hard credit pull, so I’d assume you could apply for that today and be eligible for the discount.
Note that you also have to load the digital coupon on Target Circle in order to get the discount – a link to that is above.
Although you have to be a RedCard holder to take advantage of this Target gift card promotion, it doesn’t look like you need to actually pay with that card. If buying online, you could pay with a Discover It card as that’s offering 5% cashback this quarter. The potential downside with that is that in recent months Target has been locking Target eGift cards to your account when they’ve been issued as part of promotions like ‘Buy $100 Apple gift cards, get $10 Target eGift card’. If they do that with this 10% discount promo, you wouldn’t be able to resell those cards.
It’d therefore be safer to either order physical Target gift cards (seeing as it’s only eGift cards that get locked to your account), or to buy these gift cards in-store. The downside with the latter option is that you then wouldn’t earn 5% on the Discover It card as that’s only valid on purchases from Target.com rather than in-store too.
What about amazon and ebay gift cards?
No, it’s only good on Target gift cards.
