The Target RedCard gets you 5% off most items in-store and online automatically which includes most gift cards. They’ve released a new digital coupon today which can be applied against any one item in-store or online in addition to the 5% off you already get.
Visa gift cards aren’t normally eligible for the 5% cashback from the RedCard, but with this offer they appear to be eligible for the 5% off from the digital coupon. Interestingly, when looking at Visa gift cards online it suggests you’ll get the extra 5% cashback from the standard RedCard benefit. I’m not sure if it listing things that way is an error or if they’ve set up the promotion incorrectly in our favor which would mean we’d get two sets of 5% off.
I’m assuming that this will work out to be a slightly-less-than 10% discount. Let’s say you bought a $100 item; the digital coupon would reduce its cost to $95, so an extra 5% off that would be $4.75 for a total of 9.75% off rather than 10%. That’s still not bad, but worth bearing in mind if that is the case.
