Tips & Ideas
This is a fairly good deal, but note that the $20 Target gift cards will likely get locked to your account and so you won’t be able to resell those.
You can pay with a Target RedCard to get an extra 5% off. That’s calculated based on the $20 Target gift card being deducted from the value of the $100 gift card, so you get 5% off $80 which means you only get $4 off for a net cost of $96 for the $100 + $20 gift cards.
There’s a separate deal for the Choice gift cards giving a $10 Target gift card free. Unfortunately these two deals don’t seem to be stacking, so you won’t end up with $30 worth of Target gift cards which is a shame.
Update: These two deals are stackable after all. I’d mentioned earlier the weird way that Target calculates the discount when paying with a RedCard. Well, the reason the $10 Target gift card deal wasn’t also stacking is because Target thinks you aren’t buying $100 of eligible Choice gift cards – you’re only buying $80 worth. To get around that, you can add a $25 Choice gift card to your cart so that you have $125 in face value Choice cards. Target now thinks you have $105 in your cart, so you’ll get both the $20 and $10 Target gift cards added. This is worth doing because it means you’re getting an additional $10 Target gift card when buying an additional $25 Choice gift card. Thanks to EW, Matt and David for the heads up about this quirk.
Update 2: It looks like the $10 cards are no longer being added when buying $125 worth of cards.
You can stack the offers kinda, but Target processing is so stupid. I believe when you add the $100 Grub card to the cart you will see the $20 Target GC populate on the bottom. If you add a $25 Grub card to the cart you will see BOTH the $20 and $10 Target GC populate. My guess is that Target is deducting the $20 Target GC from the purchase price so that it’s not a true stack.
Thanks! I’ve added that quirk to the post 🙂
Noticeably absent from this version of Game&Grub is Gamestop. It’s not a typo either, redemption for that brand on this version isn’t possible.
Yep, Target sometimes has different versions of Choice and Happy gift cards to those you might find elsewhere. I’m not sure why that it.
Get a $100 card from the list here and a $25 card from these with better redemption location such as Lowe’s Home Depot, Airbnb, Southwest, Texaco, or Chevron. Limit of 6 of the same card per account, you so can do this 6 times. Use your Discover/Paypal or Red card for another 5% (a little less with Red card) back.
