With regards to online orders, I forgot to mention that Target does weird things with these types of deals when ordering online. Check out this post for a full explanation, but basically if you’ve never added a Target gift card to your account before, the first card from this offer will get permanently attached to your account and you can’t resell it.
Subsequent cards get added to your card wallet, but they’re not permanently attached. They can therefore be resold, but they’ll still appear in your wallet. It’s therefore important to not combine balances with other cards because they’ll then become attached to that original gift card. As a result, it might be worth setting up a separate account if you’re reselling the Target gift cards if you don’t want to accidentally mix things up with personal purchases.
This isn’t an issue with in-store purchases – only online ones.
Update 2: It says there’s a limit of 1 per transaction, but there’s no mention of any kind of overall limit. You should therefore be able to keep buying until they cut you off; you might need to wait for one order to be fulfilled though before placing the next one when doing this online.

This is a great offer which should be profitable for most (or all?) resellers. It’ll be available both in-store and online from November 22-28, although it’s not clear yet what kind of limits they’ll put on this deal. I imagine there’ll be a nominal limit of 1 or 3, but with past deals it’s been possible to exceed limits in separate orders, even on the same account.

Do you need to currently have a gift card balance on the account or is it enough to just have added a gift card in the past (with no current GC balance)?
Having a card attached from the past should be sufficient.
