Update 10/1/20: Stvr has commented below to advise that the terms of the Amex Offer are correct – buying gift cards won’t trigger the Amex Offer because gift card purchases code differently.

The terms specifically exclude gift card purchases; when Amex Offers have an exclusion like that, it’s usually because gift card payments are processed by CashStar, Buyatab or another third party processor like that.
With Stitch Fix gift cards though, from what I can tell that’s not the case, so I don’t know if the gift card exclusion actually means anything. It might therefore be possible to buy a $50 digital or physical gift card to lock in the 50% discount or 2,500 Membership Rewards.

To be clear, in this instance stitch fix codes its gift cards as being distinct from other merchandise. The AMEX term is correct. It won’t work.

It did on the last offer many months ago. This one didn’t trigger, and I got burned on for P1 and P2 double whammy.
Interestingly, the Gift of Choice Time to Shop! card that’s on a promotion with Safeway right now allows for conversion to Stitch Fix. Don’t normally see discounted Stitch Fix options if anyone is looking for it.
