Update 7/1/20: Although gift card purchases still earn points, they no longer earn double merchandise points from this perk.
Update 7/1/20: False alarm – gift card purchases are still earning points – see this post for more.
Update: As per PointsAlly’s comment below, the additional exclusion for “all Prepaid Cards” refers to third party gift cards such as Amazon and Best Buy. It seems like you’ll still earn the standard 20x points, but this monthly perk won’t award an additional 20 points per dollar. 🙁

Tips & Ideas
This is the same deal that’s been offered for the last few months and is worth roughly 3-4% when buying gift cards, although that depends on how many points you earn and what you redeem them on.
Be sure to actually activate this offer. I bought a gift card at Speedway the other day as I’m finally near some and I didn’t realize until afterwards that I’d neglected to activate the offer on my own account despite writing about June’s perk last month!
I contacted Speedway yesterday in regards to this offer. I noticed that unfortunately, the wording has changed for the July offer compared to the June offer. They confirmed that the added “all Prepaid Cards” now means that all gift cards are excluded from earning Double Merchandise Points.
Oh no, that sucks. I noticed they’d included that additional wording but assumed it’d refer to other Green Dot-type cards. Thanks for the heads up though.
