This is valid on both physical and digital gift cards. You’ll need to go with physical gift cards either online or in-store though if you want to stack it with the Amex Offer giving $20 back or 2,000 Membership Rewards. That’s because CashStar processes payments for eGift cards and so those won’t trigger the Amex Offer.
I purchased a $100 gift card from Soma on Black Friday. They advertised that I would receive the extra promotional $20 cash card via email within 7 days. It has now been 3 weeks with no sign of the promised email. I have called customer service twice and been put on infinite hold. Their customer service chat function has been down ever since I started trying to get this resolved. I sent an email asking that this be fixed and 3 days later received an email telling me to call or use their chat function to report this problem. I am not only concerned that they never intended to fulfill the promotional $20 cash card, but that they are close to going out of business, leaving everyone who bought gift cards as Christmas presents holding the bag. At a minimum, this is awful customer service, and possibly a lot more fraudulent.
