• AAdvantage Miles will be rewarded in most cases in 3 to 5 business days, but in some cases can take up to 15 business days. If American Airlines SimplyMiles does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive your miles. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant.

Tips & Ideas

SimplyMiles is a card-linked program that offers bonus American Airlines AAdvantage miles when paying with a linked Mastercard. Gift card purchases are excluded, but I’m not aware of that being enforced in the past, so it should be possible to buy gift cards online or in-store to trigger the bonus miles. The only exception will be Best Buy eGift cards because payment for those is processed by CashStar.

In the past the targeted bonuses were for 250-1,000 miles, but both my wife and I are seeing offers for 1,500 miles this time around which is awesome as that’s a 7.5x return when spending $200. Update: Some are even being targeted for 2,500 miles (h/t Chris in the comments).
