Update 11/30/20: This offer is now live. When you click through to buy a gift card, it defaults to the $1,000 denomination, so you need to scroll down a little and select one of the other denominations if you want to buy a higher or lower value Marriott gift card.
When you add the gift card to your basket, it’ll show the full price of the gift card. However, you’ll see the reduced price while checking out before you hit the submit button.
I just bought a $250 gift card on one of my Amex Marriott cards as that has the ‘Spend $250 at Marriott properties, get $75 back’ Amex Offer loaded to it. I have very little expectation that I’ll get that $75 statement credit, but figured it was worth a try anyway. I’ve not received an email from American Express yet to let me know the offer has been used, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Marriott might not have actually run the payment yet or, even if they have, Amex doesn’t always send an email when an offer has been used.
If I happen to receive an email before this 15% sale ends, I’ll update this post. If I was to get the statement credit without a confirmation email from Amex though, it wouldn’t be for another few days and so there’s no knowing until after the event whether or not that’ll work.

Tips & Ideas
Marriott offered a 20% discount on their gift cards earlier this year and I wish I’d stocked up on them even more than I did. Still, 15% is still a decent discount and so I’ll be a buyer.
One of the great things about this offer is that Marriott processes the payment and so it codes as a Marriott/travel purchase. That means you can pay with a card that earns more on those purchases to make the deal even more rewarding.
If you have an Amex Bonvoy Brilliant card and haven’t used your $300 Marriott statement credit benefit yet this year, this gift card deal will trigger that. If you have a Chase Marriott card, you’ll earn 10x points on the first $3,500 spent with Marriott thanks to these co-branded offers. Note that you have to register for the 10x promotion, so be sure to do that now. You’ll earn 10x on both personal and business Marriott cards, so if you have both those types of cards then you could earn 10x on up to ~$8,200 of gift cards. It’s ~$8,200 of gift cards because that’ll be discounted to $6,970 which is $3,485 per card.
The one thing that I don’t think will work will be to stack this Marriott gift card deal with a Marriott Amex Offer. There’s one right now giving $75 back when spending $250, but I think that’s only triggered when paying for hotel stays or when buying gift cards from a hotel front desk. This deal is only available online, so that likely won’t work. Having said that, I’ll buy a $300 Marriott gift card on the cards where we have that Amex Offer loaded anyway as that’ll cost $255 after the discount. At worst, we’ll earn 6x Marriott Bonvoy points on those $255 purchases rather than 10x from our Chase Marriott cards, but at best we’ll get a total of $150 back in statement credits if it does happen to trigger the Amex Offer. I’m willing to risk missing out on 2,040 bonus points in the hope of getting $150.
I’ll republish this post on November 30 as a reminder. If I get an email confirming the Amex Offer got triggered by the purchase, I’ll let you know about that too.
Ah, crap – just realized I bought a $250 gift card for $212.50, even though I specifically mentioned in the post that I needed to buy a $300 gift card in order to have net spend of $250+. You can buy a $250 + $50 card to get $300 of spend for $255.
