There have been several Sam’s Club Amex Offers recently (e.g. here and here), so this should stack with those if you can load this offer to the same card.
Sam’s Club sells many third party gift card brands online, along with Visa, Mastercard and American Express gift cards. While a $5 statement credit isn’t amazing, it could help offset the activation fee on the latter gift cards.
