This will be a profitable deal seeing as activation fees are less than $10. It should be possible to buy a $500 card to trigger the discount, so that’d be an even better deal due to the additional credit card rewards you could earn.
If buying a Mastercard gift card at the same time as groceries, check your receipt to ensure the $10 discount is taken off. When doing a similar deal in the past, it didn’t give me the discount, so I had to stop by the customer service desk to get the $10 refunded.
