(EXPIRED) Safeway/Albertsons: Earn 15x Reward Points On Dining Gift Cards (Save Up To 37.5% On Gas)

Update 2: Happy Guy only earns 2x Reward Points too. Happy Eats earned 15x according to this data point on Frequent Miler, so it looks like the restaurant-only Happy brands (e.g. Happy Eats, Happy Dining, etc.) will earn 15x, but not other Happy brands.

Update 1: It turns out I’m actually near a Safeway store this week. I bought a Happy Holidays gift card this morning but unfortunately it only coded for 2x Reward Points rather than 15x. Let us know in the comments below if you have any luck earning 15x on any other Happy brands.

This is an excellent deal as 15x Reward Points can be used to save up to 37.5% on gas. Restaurant gift cards aren’t always great when it comes to reselling, but this should make many brands profitable if you can refuel to the 25 gallon limit when redeeming the points.

Something that might be interesting to explore if you’re near a store that uses the Just For U program is if this works on Happy gift cards. A month or two ago, Kroger ran a 4x digital coupon on restaurant gift cards and I think various Happy gift card brands like Happy Guy were eligible, presumably because they include restaurants. If Albertsons, Safeway, Shaw’s, Vons et al class Happy Guy, Happy Holidays, Happy Lady, etc. gift cards the same way, this could work out to be 37.5% off pretty much any third party gift card you like.

This digital coupon expires on November 17, so you only have a few days to fill your boots if this does work.
