The Deal

• There are (probably) three versions of a restaurant Amex Offer available on Marriott credit cards:
  • Business cards:
    • Earn 6x bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar spent at US restaurants
  • Personal cards:
    • Earn 7x bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar spent at US restaurants
    • Earn 8x bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar spent at US restaurants

• You will receive 6 additional points for each dollar charged with your enrolled Card from the time you enroll and through 10/31/2020 at restaurants located in the U.S., on up to $7,500 in total eligible purchases.
• To earn 6 additional points for a restaurant purchase, the purchase must be at a restaurant located in the United States.
• You will NOT earn additional points for purchases made at a restaurant owned by a U.S. company but located outside the U.S. (e.g., Hard Rock Café in Paris). You also will NOT earn additional points for purchases at nightclubs, convenience stores, grocery stores or supermarkets.
• You may not earn additional points for purchases at a restaurant located within another establishment (e.g., a restaurant inside a hotel, casino, or event venue). Purchases made at a restaurant located within a hotel may be recognized as a purchase at a hotel, not a restaurant.
• Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, cash advances, purchases of traveler’s checks, person-to-person payments, the purchase or reloading of prepaid cards, and purchases of other cash equivalents.
• Points received from this offer will be posted to your Marriott Bonvoy member account up to 12 weeks after the end of each month.

Tips & Ideas

Given how keen Amex is on clawing back bonus points when buying gift cards, buy restaurant gift cards at your own risk with these Amex Offers. For smaller denominations though, it should be less of an issue.

At the time of writing this post, there are very few restaurant promo card deals. There will likely be more deals in the next few months though, so those deals could be stacked with these restaurant Amex Offers to make those deals even more rewarding.

I have a 6x offer on a business Marriott Amex card and 8x offer on a personal card. Both offers give a total of 10x Marriott Bonvoy points because those cards give 4x and 2x on restaurant spend respectively. The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card offers 3x at restaurants as standard, so I’m assuming cardholders have a 7x offer on that card.
