The standard welcome bonus when joining RebatesMe without a referral offer seems to be $5, so getting $40 after earning $10 cashback is a great deal. With the holiday season coming up, it might not be hard to earn the $10 organically.
If you want to get the welcome bonus knocked out quickly, you could buy gift cards from GiftCardMall, GiftCards.com or Raise. Buying a couple of $500 Visa gift cards from GiftCardMall or GiftCards.com would earn you $10+ in cashback. That’d offset most of the purchase and shipping fees, but you’d then get the $40 bonus on top. Update: Oops, I’d forgotten that the maximum denomination for Visa and Mastercard gift cards was $250 from these two sites. Thanks to RM1xxx for the reminder in the comments below. You could buy 4x $250 gift cards, but the purchase fees would therefore be more expensive and so isn’t as good an option.
As always, you should check Cashback Monitor before shopping through any portals to ensure you’re getting the best rate, but this $40 bonus could make it worth shopping through RebatesMe even if their regular cashback rate for any given retailer is a little lower. It’s also nice that you have 365 days from signing up in order to earn the $10 cashback as that gives plenty of time to earn it.
