I’ve finally gotten around to signing up for the Point app. The account comes with a $49 annual fee which seems steep, but as noted above you can earn a $100 bonus when signing up with a referral link and spending $1,000 within 30 days. I’ve also seen various mentions of spending offers in the app in recent weeks and months that make it seem like the $49 fee is worth it for now at least.

This offer is one such deal that could pay off nicely. If you spend an average of $20 per day for five days in a row, you’ll earn points worth $30. If you want to make things easy, you could just reload your Amazon balance by $20 per day to effectively save 30% on $100 worth of Amazon credit. Note that you don’t have to spend $20 per day – you could spend $1 per day for four days and $96 on the fifth to fulfill the terms of this offer.

Other options on the gift card front include buying gift cards from Bitmo, Fluz, Ibotta, etc. as you’ll also earn cashback from those apps. An added benefit is that with it being a debit card you’re paying with, you’ll earn a higher cashback rate with Fluz and Ibotta will accept it as a payment method (they don’t allow payment by credit card anymore).

The Point app provides a virtual card number to use while you wait for the physical debit card to arrive, so that enables you to start making purchases straight away, helping ensure you get your five day streak completed by June 12.
