Update 12/27/21: Oops! I was getting my rewards currencies mixed up and was thinking 2,000 points was worth $2 like it is with Drop. It’s not – on the Point debit card 2,000 points is worth $20.

When the Point debit card first came out it was a Mastercard debit card. They’re now reissuing existing cardholders with a Visa debit card and as part of that process they’re incentivizing cardholders to activate and use their new card with 2,000 bonus points. That’s worth $2 $20 and so isn’t a huge win, but with all the 5x-10x spending offers right now, there are plenty of other reasons to use your new card.
