Tips & Ideas
This is a nice little deal as it’s an easy $10. It presumably works in a similar way to Amazon deals where you redeem at least 1 Discover point and get an instant discount, except in this case you initially pay full price and then get $10 back as a statement credit.
You only need to redeem 1 point for this offer, but redeeming your Cashback Bonus for the entire amount isn’t terrible value (versus doing that with Membership Rewards, Ultimate Rewards, etc.) because Discover points don’t have much value beyond 1cpp. Having said that, you can redeem your Cashback Bonus for gift cards which come with a bonus on them, so that often provides the opportunity to make a small profit on the redemption, so redeeming 1 point with this Discover/PayPal offer is still the better option.
One thing to bear in mind is that you need to actually be spending at least $50 via PayPal. For example, if you were to do this Ace Hardware deal from PayPal Digital Gifts, you’d be buying a $50 gift card for $42.50. You’d therefore not trigger the Discover offer as you’d only be spending $42.50 rather than $50.
